Education Leaders Academy
We offer free training for aspiring community leaders who want to shape the future of public education in Nashville. The application for the 2024 cohort of Ed Leaders is open now through July 1!
Opportunity Nashville’s Education Leaders Academy is a free, six-month hybrid training program for Nashville residents with an interest in shaping the future of our public school system. The program equips participants with the information and tools to take an active community leadership role, such as running for school board or advocating on a specific issue.
Participant Requirements
Parent or community member with a vested interest in Nashville’s public school system
Must be a Davidson County resident
Ability to attend a majority of the 6 sessions over six months
Willingness to review materials ahead of training sessions and actively participate in topic discussions
Selection Process
Applications must be submitted by July 1, 2024. Our staff will review the applications and select a geographically-diverse cohort. All applicants will hear from a member of our team about the status of their application on or before July 8, 2023. The program will have a limited number of participants. If you are not offered the opportunity to participate in 2024, we will notify you when the application reopens in 2025.
2024 Program Dates
Saturday sessions will take place in the morning from 10 am-12 pm, and Thursday sessions will take place in the evening from 5:30-7 pm. All in-person meetings will be held at the Urban League of Middle Tennessee.
